Responsibilities for Electrical Technical Inspector Jobs in UK:
Electrical Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all electrical works comply with BS 7671 and current legislation
- Maintain electrical certification compliance across housing properties
- Oversee EICR inspections, installations, rewires, and repair works
Technical Inspections & Audits
- Conduct site inspections in homes, communal areas, and plant rooms
- Review electrical certificates and EICR documentation
- Carry out post-work quality checks and random audits
Contractor Performance Monitoring
- Monitor work of electricians and external contractors
- Provide technical feedback and corrective guidance
- Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards
Reporting & Documentation
- Produce detailed inspection and audit reports
- Record defects, risks, and compliance issues
- Identify trends and recommend service improvements
Additional Duties
- Support complaint investigations and service reviews
- Attend resident meetings when required
- Participate in out-of-hours repair rota

Requirements – About You
Essential Qualifications
- NICEIC Qualified Supervisor eligibility
- City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services
- City & Guilds 2382-22 (BS 7671 Latest Edition)
- Part P qualification
- Strong experience in EICR, installations, rewires, voids, and repairs
Essential Skills
- Strong understanding of BS 7671 regulations
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Good communication and reporting ability
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Proficient in IT systems (Microsoft Office & auditing tools)
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Experience
- Background in social housing or contractor-based electrical work
- IOSH, SMSTS, or SSSTS qualification
- MCS accreditation (Solar PV, Battery Storage, etc.)
- Membership of professional bodies (e.g., IET)
- Level 4 Electrical Safety Management qualification
